Abstract: This research explores the impact of problem-based learning (PBL) on adult education, focusing on the effectiveness of PBL in enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills among adult learners. The study aimed to evaluate the benefits of PBL in adult education, to identify the key components of successful PBL implementation, and to assess the challenges faced by educators and learners in PBL environments. A survey research design was chosen to collect data from participants engaged in PBL programs, offering detailed insights into their experiences. A sample size of 300 adult learners was selected for this study. The purposive sampling technique was employed to target individuals who have experienced PBL. The case study was conducted in Abuja, Nigeria, where PBL is increasingly adopted in educational settings. Findings revealed that PBL significantly enhanced critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with participants demonstrating improved engagement and application of knowledge. However, challenges such as the need for extensive preparation and resource constraints were noted. The study recommended expanding training for educators on PBL methods and increasing resource availability to support effective PBL implementation.
